Beth Ford is currently serving her third term as Pima County Treasurer.
She first took office in January 2001. She earned a Bachelor of Science
from the University of Arizona with a major in Accounting. In 1988 Beth
became a Certified Public Accountant. She is a member of the Government
Finance Officer's Association. She serves as Vice-President of the Arizona
Association of County Treasurers where she previously served as President.
Her professional career began as a staff accountant with the Tucson accounting
firm Cotton, Parker, Johnson and Co. P.C. She began her government service
with the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) and was promoted to Financial
Services Manager. During her tenure with TUSD, the district received their
first Certificate of Excellence awards for the Comprehensive Annual Financial
Report from both the Government Finance Officers Association and the Association
of School Business Officials.
Some of Beth's accomplishments as Pima County Treasurer include increased
operating efficiencies and effectiveness from successful relationships with
other Pima County agencies to improved procedural changes through automation
improvements. She developed an investment program, consistently generating
additional income for Pima County's political subdivisions that would have
otherwise been raised through taxes.
Beth is a firm believer in the power of automation and guides and facilitates
in-house software development for the accounting and tax payment functions.
Tax payment and distribution of tax revenues to Pima County's political
subdivisions is done in a timely manner. She has been instrumental in offering
"Transparency in Government" as she guides the office into an
on-line banking service environment for Pima County agencies. As a result
of those improvements, she has reduced operating costs, while expanding
services.
