“I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the professionalism, customer service and PATIENCE of your Michelle Brooks.

I took over the operations in the fiscal office here at the Commission on the Arts the end of June last year. I have been extremely grateful for the help that Michelle has provided me as I have been learning about our interest bearing accounts with the State Treasurer.

Her patience with my questions and her clear instructions and explanations have allowed me to learn and do my job much better.

Please accept these remarks and consider them as a "well done" on customer service! “

Local Government Investment Pools (LGIP & LGIP-GOV)

The State Treasurer's Office operates a Local Government Investment Pool (LGIP) to provide professional short-term investment services for a wide array of public entities. By investing in the LGIP, participants are able to benefit from the substantial aggregate buying power of the state portfolio as well as a pool of monies from other participants. Participants enjoy safety of principal, daily liquidity, and competitive yields. The fair value balance as of March 2008 was $3,566,943,000.

The State Treasurer's Office operates a second investment pool for local government entities called the Local Government Investment Pool-Government, or LGIP-GOV. The LGIP-GOV is established under the same administrative rules as the LGIP except that pool investments are limited to those securities that carry the full faith and credit of the United States government. The fair value balance as of March 2008 was $2,040,707,000.
