STORM DAMAGE RECOVERY & RELIEF UPDATE

(STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX) –  This is an update to the earlier notice of relief and recovery efforts by local and state emergency officials.  We will continue to provide additional details as needed.

A cooling station has been established by the Red Cross at Arcadia High School's Auxiliary Gym 4703 E Indian School Road which will open at 3:30pm.  The Red Cross is prepared to convert it to a shelter if needed tonight.  The public should call The Grand Canyon Chapter of the American Red Cross at 800-842-7349 for more information.

Power has been restored to the Highland Manor nursing home/care facility at 4635 N 14 St.

APS crews have been brought in from Casa Grande, Cottonwood, Prescott and Snowflake to assist with restoration efforts. They are working diligently to restore services as quickly as possible and customers will be restored throughout the day as repairs are made.  Given the extent of the damage, it is likely some customers will remain without power past today.

  Current Status:

  • APS customers have been advised that they can go to grocery stores to purchase 20 pounds of dry ice for their refrigerators/freezers and APS will reimburse them for the expenditure.
  • Approximately 9,700 customers are currently without power.   Restoration efforts ongoing.  Some areas may have their power restored within the next hour; however, there are other sites that may still be without power well into this weekend.
  • Maryland Gardens Care Center - nursing home/care facility at 31 W Maryland - no ETR (estimated time of restoration) at this time - Phoenix Fire Dept is on site.
  • Phoenix Art Museum (extended outage may impact some of the art on display) - no ETR
