TREASURER DEAN MARTIN AS ACTING GOVERNOR
UPDATE ON STORM DAMAGE RECOVERY & RELIEF
(STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX) – Arizona State Treasurer Dean Martin as Acting Governor has been in communication with The Department of Emergency and Military Affairs ( DEMA), Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) today regarding damage from last night’s storm. Below is a list of affected facilities.
Emergency Management Plans have been activated by local power companies APS and SRP. The Treasurer with DEMA is actively coordinating between Maricopa County, local cities, and other state agencies for relief.
Treasurer Martin spoke with Pinnacle West Chairman Bill Post who has pledged that APS will provide emergency electrical generators to the nursing center if power cannot be restored as the temperature rises. However power in the area has been restored, and APS expects to return power to the nursing center soon.
Treasurer Martin is monitoring this situation until the Governor returns from the Democratic Convention in Denver. “I am very pleased with the quick action by Emergency Management Director Lou Trammell and his staff coordinating Maricopa County, local cities, the Red Cross, APS and SRP in their ongoing rapid response,” said Treasurer Martin.
Currently cooling stations are being identified for areas without power for citizens to seek shelter. As soon as those locations are confirmed, a website address and phone number will be provided for citizens to call.
