Dennis J. Stevenson
Chief Investment Officer State Treasurer Arizona
Dennis Stevenson first joined the Treasurer’s Office in January 2014 as Portfolio Manager and began serving as Chief Investment Officer in March 2018. In his role as Chief Investment Officer, Dennis is responsible for the financial advisory and management of all State Agency investment pools and the Local Government Investment Pools (LGIP) with more than $23 Billion in combined assets under management. Dennis is the chief strategist and has ultimate decision-making responsibility on all holdings and trades within these investment pools investing exclusively in fixed-income securities. Prior to his service for the Treasury, Dennis was a Financial Specialist at Merrill Lynch in charge of the brokerage’s Foreign Commodities positions in Europe. He also spent 15 years as a debt and equity Futures Trader on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange before moving to Arizona to accept a position as Bank Analyst for the First National Bank of Arizona. Born in Indiana, Dennis is a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Economics.
Jake Richardson
LGIP Portfolio Manager, CFA Level II Candidate
Under the direction of the Chief Investment Officer, Jake Richardson serves as Portfolio Manager for the Local Government Investment Pools (LGIP) with more than $5.55 Billion in assets under management. Jake is responsible for prudently investing money placed with the Treasury by local governments on behalf of their taxpayers. After working as a Financial Planner and passing the FINRA Series 65 Investment Advisor licensing exam, Jake joined the Office of the State Treasurer Arizona in January 2015. Jake served as Senior Investment Analyst providing lead support to the Chief Investment Officer and the Director of Endowments and was responsible for monitoring and reviewing current and potential investments, and ensuring the Treasury remained in compliance with investment regulations and Arizona law. While working at the Treasury, Jake also obtained a Certificate in Commercial Credit from Moody’s Analytics in 2017. Born and raised in Phoenix, Jake graduated from Northern Arizona University with a double major in Management and Finance and attended Deer Valley High School.
Eric Stivers
Investment Analysis, CFA Level II Candidate
Eric joined the ASTO in 2016 as a Credit Analyst and currently provides 9 years of investment experience. Prior to joining the ASTO, Eric spent five years at the Vanguard Group as a FINRA series 7 and 63 licensed broker. During that time Eric specialized in providing investment guidance to investors, as well as trading mutual funds, stocks, options, and bonds. Eric graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Marketing.
