Accountant V, grade 23
Serves as the Accounting Supervisor for the Investment Accounting Division, and will report directly to the Investment Accounting Division manager.
Duties will include, but are not limited to: performs investment accounting work by applying established accounting principles, theories, concepts, and practices. Develops and maintains a variety of complex investment accounting statements and reports conforming to GAAP and the Arizona Revised Statutes. Prepares daily G/L entries. Prepares State agency participant?s investment withdrawal and deposit transactions for entry into the sub-ledger. Compares investment purchase/sale activity to broker trade confirmations. Compares investment maturity, sales and purchase activity to bank transaction reports and correct discrepancies. Prepares written reports and executive summaries on investment accounting activity for the State of Arizona and other reports related to the yearly financial statements. Exhibits extensive knowledge of the principles, concepts, current practices, methods and techniques of governmental accounting, internal control structure, and fiscal management. Demonstrates skill in work management and work leadership, written and oral communications, interpersonal relations, interpretation of financial data and state statutes, and imparting knowledge to others. Ability to exercise effective administrative and technical supervision over professional staff. Ability to effectively manage diverse work load to meet deadlines.
Previous investment related accounting experience is preferred but not required.
Requires Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting from an accredited college or university; OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 24 semester hours in accounting courses and 5 years professional accounting experience. A license as a Certified Public Accountant by the State of Arizona may substitute for the educational requirements.
