Arizona Award for Excellence in Teaching Financial Literacy

Official Award Rules

One (1) original nomination per teacher.

 

HOW TO ENTER

 

 Nominations must be submitted through the official nomination web page and must be marked no later than September 1, 2023, 11:59 p.m. (MST).

 

JUDGING CRITERIA

  • Nominations will be evaluated by a panel of judges, including representatives of the Arizona Financial Literacy Task Force.

  • Nominations will be evaluated on: 1) how a teacher has advanced financial literacy education; 2) a teacher’s use of creative and engaging teaching methods; 3) evidence of student engagement; 4) improvement of skills and knowledge in financial education; and 5) how the Master of Legal Studies would benefit the teacher.

 

ELIGIBILITY

 

All nominated teachers must currently be teaching Arizona K-12th grade students in district, charter, private, homeschool or tribal schools as of September 1, 2023.

Employees and relatives of The Office of the Arizona State Treasurer and the University of Arizona are not eligible to win. Contest judges and their relatives are also not eligible to win.

 

AWARDS

 

Three (3) scholarships will be awarded to cover the full cost of the online Master of Legal Studies in Law and Economics (MLS) degree, a joint program between the University of Arizona Center for Philosophy of Freedom and the James E. Rogers College of Law. 

 

All scholarships for tuition will be conveyed through a direct contribution to the student’s account each semester. No refunds for excess funds will be generated. No cash prizes will be awarded.

 

WINNER SELECTION/VERIFICATION

 

Winners will be notified by phone and/or email after the close of the nomination period and completion of judging. 

 

To receive the scholarship award, the winning teachers must complete an application to the James E. Rogers College of Law within 90 days after the award notification. If application is not completed within 90 days of the notification, the scholarship award will be forfeited.

 

AGREEMENT TO THE OFFICIAL RULES

 

By participating in the scholarship program, each entrant fully and unconditionally agrees to accept these Official Rules and the decision of the sponsor and judges which are final and binding in all matters related to the award program. No purchase necessary to enter or win.

 

AGREEMENT TO USE OF CONTENT

 

By submitting an entry, each participant agrees to allow The Office of the Arizona State Treasurer, the University of Arizona and its agents to share the winner’s names that could be posted online or in a social media message and may also be used in news releases or media coverage.  Further, by submitting an entry, a nominee agrees to allow their own likeness, photograph(s), video recording, voice recording, or name in any advertisement, publicity pamphlet, social media post, or for any other lawful purpose in any medium now known or hereafter, without compensation, consideration or remuneration and without the nominee’s review or approval.

 

TAX LIABILITY

 

The Sponsors and their agents make no representations as to the tax liability or deductibility of a scholarship award. Each participant shall be solely responsible for filing and paying any taxes arising from the receipt of a scholarship award.
